Naming convention clarification
Hi team,
first, thank you to OpenAI, Devpost and all sponsors for organizing such a great competition.
I’m preparing my hackathon project and would like to use the name myProjectNameGPT and purchase myProjectNameGPT.com to present the project.
Before I proceed, could you confirm that this is acceptable under the hackathon rules and OpenAI’s policies?
I will:
- Clearly and prominently state across the site, README, and all materials that this is a hackathon project, not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI.
- Avoid using any protected marks in a way that suggests any endorsement.
As context, there are well-known community projects such as AutoGPT and GPT4All that use “GPT” in their names despite not being connected to OpenAI. With the disclaimers above, would using “myProjectNameGPT” and the corresponding domain be acceptable?
If there is preferred disclaimer language or any additional requirements, I’m happy to follow them.
Thank you for the guidance!
Best regards,
Michal

Hi Michael,
Thanks for reaching out and for your interest in this hackathon. As far as the Official Rules go, "Third-Party Integrations: If a Project integrates any third-party SDK, APIs and/or data, Entrant must be authorized to use them in accordance with any terms and conditions or licensing requirements of the tool."
I found these three articles on usage of OpenAI and GPT on their help page: https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8798878-building-and-publishing-a-gpt#:~:text=Builder%20Profile%20settings.-,Policies%20and%20restrictions,-Published%20GPTs%20must Please make sure you're following all restrictions and rules outlined here. Hope this helps and best of luck! We can't wait to see what you come up with!
